Suzi Konopka is a health and fitness professional with over 20 years of experience. Her interest in health and wellness began when she was 15 years old and became involved with biking while making her first nutritional decision to stop eating fried foods, as these can have a negative impact on our bodies. After graduating from High School, her older sister Jan suggested that she apply for a job at the fitness center nearby that Jan was a member of. It was this position that Suzi got started in the Health and Wellness Field.
Suzi has a wide range of expertise - from working with patients in the areas of post-cardiac rehabilitation, post-knee replacement and lumbar strengthening, to counseling individuals on practicing positive health habits with exercise and good nutrition. Suzi has also designed programs for specific groups of individuals. In Exeter, New Hampshire, she worked at a health club (Results) where she developed an aqua aerobics program for members. At the Elder Hostel (Red Fox) in Jeffersonville, Vermont, She developed and conducted week-long seminars on preventative medicine, nutrition and fitness to senior citizens from across the country. At Johnson State College, Suzi developed and taught a multilevel aerobics course for the college-wide population. Professor Uhlendorf of Johnson State college stated, “I frequently heard many glowing compliments about Suzi’s classes from students, both traditional college age and older individuals… Suzi’s versatility in relating well with people of all ages combined with her marvelously cheerful personality makes her a real pleasure to work with.” In South Portland, Maine, Suzi worked as an exercise specialist and group exercise instructor, teaching a variety of classes (aerobics, step, circuit classes, strength training, resist-a-ball, core-board, functional training and flexibility), as well as designing programs for associates at G.H. Bass & Company. She taught Lunch and Learns for associates on topics that included Stress Management, Relaxation, Improving Your Golf Game, and How to Enhance Your Running Program. She was involved in planning functions for associates and their families (Children’s Night at the Children’s Museum, Family Fun On Ice, Health Fairs). Upon returning to Vermont, Suzi worked at a chiropractic’s office assisting with day-to-day operations and working with patient’s on their exercise programs. She also implemented ‘Kids Day America’, which consisted of environmental, health, and wellness activities for children. At Smugglers’s Notch Family Resort she taught skiing in the winter ,and in the summer led a stretch and go class for guests. At The Well in Jeffersonville, VT she worked as a personal trainer and group instructor. Her education includes a Bachelor Degree in Health Science; Certifications in ACE as a Group Exercise Instructor, and Personal Fitness Trainer/Counselor in Fitness Resources. She has attended many workshops on a wide variety of fitness and wellness subjects including: Reebok, FiTour, Perform Better, American Council Exercise, and Aerobic Fitness Association of America. Suzi is also certified in C.P.R, AED, and First Aid, with American Red Cross. |
